Used by the 101st Airborne as the main troop transport for the D-Day assault on the Normandy beach heads and inland targets. Wave after wave of these study aircraft dropped thousands of men and tons of equipment into battle. A total of 925 C-47s and 13,000 men left their bases in Southern England to take part in the most important day in Europe’s history.
