Corgi Panther PzKpfw V Ausf. D Kursk Russia 1943. CC60201REF:CC60201 Scale 1.50 Limited Edition Length 125mm Height 60mm From Corgi's World War II Collection of historically accurate die-cast military vehicles is this Limited Edition 1:50 scale PzKpfw V Panther Ausf.D of the Panzer-Regiment, 'Operation Barbarosa', Kursk, Russia 1943. In response to the original setbacks in ‘Operation Barbarosa’ and particularly the effectiveness of the Russian Armoured Divisions and the T34, a new advanced German tank was commissioned in 1942 and went into production in 1943. Three hundred Panther Ausf.D’s were ready for the advance on Kursk although the Battle of Kursk was an initial disaster for the Panzer-Regiments. The haste of development and production led to numerous problems and breakdowns during Operation Citadel with more Ausf.D suffering engine fires and other mechanical defects and failures than were destroyed by Soviet armour or guns. The Germans attacked Kursk on 5th July 1943 using predictable military manoeuvres countered by the Russians. On the 12th July, the Russian’s attacked to the south of Kursk leading to the biggest tank battle in history, Hitler then ordered a retreat. This is a fantastic model with richly detailed weathering and battle damage that will enhance any military collection.
