Herpa Wings BEA Vickers Viscount 802. 510738REF:510738 Scale 1:500 Length 50mm Wingspan 54mm With the reorganization of British aviation after WWII, British European Airlines (BEA) was responsible for domestic and European routes using a mixed fleet of ageing aircraft. With the beginning of the 1950s, BEA introduced the revolutionary Vickers Viscount into service, powered by four Rolls Royce Dart turboprop engines, this radical aircraft revolutionised short to medium distance air travel, rapidly gaining popularity with passengers and airlines alike. The Viscount remained in service with BEA/British Airways until 1985. There are a few Vickers Viscounts still flying today with 5 in service examples in Africa and one in America. The first of 39 802 and 806 series aircraft were delivered in 1956, the original of this model had the registration G-AOJB. All the die-cast aircraft from the Herpa Wings range are made to an exceptionally high standard, both in terms of the detailed Tampo printed liveries and the quality of the construction.
