REF:AA33104  Scale 1:72  Length 120mm Wingspan 160mm  Limited Edition

From Corgi’s Aviation Archive, War in the Pacific Collection is this Limited Edition 1:72 scale Mitsubishi A6M2-21 Zero flown by the Kasumigaura Flying Group in Kasumigaura, Japan during 1943. The Imperial Japanese Navy trained pilots in Naval Air Groups (NAGs) all over Japan, naming them after the location of their home base housing a team of around 1,800 staff comprising of flying and ground crew and training instructors. Kasumigaura became known as the home of the yokaren, the name used for students on a flight training programme although the word actually refers to an amalgam of various courses.

The crew training course for 15 -17 year olds offered a fast-track route into becoming an NCO in the Imperial Japanese Navy. This model is based upon the trainer variant used at Kasumigaura during 1943 and is in the colours often seen at this school, including the lower surface colour of Trainer Orange. This richly detailed die-cast model is released in a Limited Edition of 2,800 pieces.
